SIR ALAN BROOKE suggested that the Joint Planning Staff should be asked to consider, as a matter of urgency, what instructions should be sent to Admiral Mountbatten for the guidance of Major-General Harrison in Melbourne.

THE COMMITTEE:-

Instructed the Joint Planning Staff to examine the above telegram, and to prepare a reply for consideration by the Chiefs of Staff at their meeting the following day.
